TRIUMPH LEARNING’S GEORGIA COACH GPS SERIES TITLES ADOPTED STATEWIDE
-- GEORGIA COACH FULLY ALIGNED WITH GEORGIA PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

New York, NY, October 8, 2009 — Triumph Learning, the market leader in state-specific, standards-focused instruction that supports student instruction and a Haights Cross Communications company, said today that the State of Georgia Department of Education has adopted Triumph Learning’s Georgia Coach, GPS (Georgia Performance Standards) Edition, Standards-Based Instruction series of supplementary texts. The popular Georgia Coach series adopted by the state include English Language Arts, Grades 1-8; Mathematics, Grades 1-8; Science End of Course Test, Grades 1-8; Literature and Composition and American Literature and Composition, End of Course Test, Grade 9; and the GPS Gold Edition for English Language Arts for Grades 1-8.

According to John Lawler, President of Triumph Learning: “Triumph Learning has been working with Georgia teachers for over 25 years. Georgia school districts and the Georgia Department of Education have used Coach books more than any other product in the market to assist administrators and teachers in raising student performance in critical assessed skills. With each new edition of Coach, we have both reached out for feedback from teachers and curriculum specialists and taken care that new Georgia Coacheditions reflect the content, style, and format of new state standards and actual tests. The result is that this latest generation of the Georgia Coach series, GPS edition, is fully aligned with the Georgia Performance Standards and support students’ performance in the tests,” Lawler said.

The Georgia Coach, GPS Edition, is a grade-specific series that provides comprehensive instruction and practice on all the key skills and concepts covered by the Georgia Performance Standards. The series is based on the well-proven Coach instructional architecture of all-in-one diagnose, instruct, practice, and assess.
Georgia Coach is designed to familiarize students with the standards and fully prepares them for the GPS-based Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT). Specific features in the series include:

- Full CRCT-based reading passages and bubble sheets in practice tests and mixed reviews.
- Full coverage of all assessable mathematics standards.
- Full-length pretest and post test in English/Language Arts and Mathematics.
- Full-length writing assignments for Grades 3, 5, and 8.
- Correlation charts to allow students to check off the standards and lessons as they master them.
- Teachers Guide, including competencies analysis charts, answer keys, additional mini-lessons, etc.

The state-adopted Georgia Coach, GPS Gold Edition for English Language Arts, for Grades 1-8, builds on the GPS Edition of standards-based instruction and adds key features such as:

- Fiction, nonfiction, and poetry reading passages.
- “Getting the Idea” sections to introduce important concepts discussed in the chapter.
- Test-taking tips and strategies.
- Coached reading passages with sidebar reading guide.
