LITTLETON, MA (October, 2000) – Capturing the interest of struggling middle school readers is now as easy as 1 - 2 - 3 with the new Triple Play book series from Sundance Publishing.
Designed for middle school students reading at the third and fourth grade level, Triple Play features four new adventure mini-series. Each mini-series comprises three books with appealing characters and engaging cliff-hangers to appeal to students’ varied interests and keep them coming back for more.
Part of Sundance’s new Second Chance Reading program, Triple Play gives middle school students a second chance to master basic reading skills, learn writing and speaking strategies, and develop a love of reading. Each Triple Play book is 48 pages and contains six to eight chapters. All 12 books in the series have the look and feel of more complex novels, yet feature appropriately predictable text and sentence structure to help students build their reading skills and their confidence.
The Triple Play series includes Bay Boys, Asking for Trouble, Haunted Houses, and Cyberkids. The first adventure in each set of books introduces the characters, theme, plot and setting that students will encounter throughout the mini-series. Each mini-series features continuity of characters as they grow and learn from their experiences.
The 128-page Triple Play Teacher Guide provides an eight-page lesson plan with six reproducible skill sheets for every book. The step-by-step lesson plans lead teachers and students through the guided reading process as they enjoy each new book in the Triple Play series.
Triple Play is available in three packages to allow teachers maximum ordering flexibility. Teachers can purchase a single copy set of all 12 Triple Play books for $45. A complete classroom set with six copies of each title (72 books) is $270. The Triple Play Teacher Guide is $25. Triple Play and the entire Second Chance Reading program are included in Sundance’s generous volume discount program, which offers teachers up to 30 percent savings.
