Prince Frederick, MD, April 29, 2008—Recorded Books, the world’s premiere publisher of unabridged audiobooks since 1979 and a Haights Cross Communications company, today announced the publication of the unabridged audio recording of Ice Trap, by Kitty Sewell. This new audiobook is available immediately.
Ice Trap, which is set in Wales and the sub-Artic wilderness of Canada’s North West Territories, is described by one reviewer as “a gripping thriller set in a fascinating and exotic locale.” The novel features Welsh surgeon Dafydd Woodruff. After botching an operation, Woodruff escapes to Canada for a fresh start, unaware that he has relocated to a perilous community haunted by dark secrets. Many years later when he receives a letter from twins claiming to be his children, Woodruff’s life is thrown into turmoil.
First published in the United Kingdom in 2005, Ice Trap was a finalist for both the Wales Book of the Year and the The Crime Writer's Association New Blood Dagger Award, and is also a Literary Guild Main Selection. It won the BBC Radio Cymru's Listeners' Prize. Translated thus far into over ten languages, Ice Trap is Sewell's first novel.
Sewell was born in Sweden, educated in Spain, and later lived in Canada's North West Territories with her husband, a physician. Sewell has worked as a psychotherapist, sculptor, and realtor. She and her husband divide their time between south Wales and Spain.
Recorded Books’ Ice Trap is narrated by Pete Bradbury, a New York-based actor who has appeared on and off-Broadway and at leading regional theaters in plays ranging from Shakespeare and Molière to Albee and Mamet. He has also appeared on TV in major soap operas and in the CBS miniseries Sally Hemings. A graduate of Vassar College, Bradbury has narrated over 30 audiobooks.
The audiobook of Ice Trap is available in both audio CD and cassette formats. (Editors: For digital photos of the cover of the Recorded Books audiobook of Ice Trap, please send an e-mail to donnac@recordedbooks.com.)
