RECORDED BOOKS PUBLISHES UNABRIDGED AUDIO RECORDING OF ALEXANDER MCCALL SMITH’S LOVE OVER SCOTLAND

Prince Frederick, MD, April 8, 2008—Recorded Books, the world’s premiere publisher of unabridged audiobooks since 1979 and a Haights Cross Communications company, has published the unabridged audio recording of Love Over Scotland, by bestselling author Alexander McCall Smith. This new audiobook is available immediately.

Love Over Scotland is the third title in Alexander McCall Smith’s popular “44 Scotland Street” series. Unabridged audio recordings of the previous two installments, Espresso Tales and 44 Scotland Street, were also published by Recorded Books. All three books, which showcase the author’s well-regarded wit and charm, feature colorful, authentic sketches of classic characters in Edinburgh society – including the stalwart Tory chartered surveyor, the pushy mother, and the Italian-speaking prodigy, Bertie.

Alexander McCall Smith has written more than 50 books covering a wide range of topics -- works on medical law, criminal law, and philosophy; books for children; collections of short stories; and novels, including nine titles in the renowned “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency Series.” A professor of medical law at Edinburgh University, he was born in what is now Zimbabwe and taught law at the University of Botswana. He is married to an Edinburgh doctor, and has two daughters.

Recorded Books’ Love Over Scotland is narrated by Robert Ian Mackenzie, an accomplished actor whose career encompasses theater, musicals, opera, films, TV, voice-overs, and commercials. His films include A Fish Called Wanda, A View to a Kill, and The Thomas Crown Affair. Theater credits include Beauty and the Beast, South Pacific, Camelot, and Much Ado About Nothing. Mackenzie has appeared on television in All My Children and Guiding Light; his work in opera includes appearances in Carmen, Traviata, and Aida. He is also the narrator of Espresso Tales and 44 Scotland Street.

The audiobook of Love Over Scotland is available in both audio CD and cassette formats. (Editors: For digital photos of the cover of the Recorded Books audiobook of Love Over Scotland, please send an e-mail to donnac@recordedbooks.com.)
